I’m the proud mama of a new website! Here she is, in all her glory:
First, thank you everyone for your patience as I’ve been working on getting Defeating the Dragons moved over to the new place. It’s been an interesting week, as I’ve spent most of it handling the technical end of writing a blog, something I’ve never had to deal with here on WordPress.com. Getting all 11,000 of your comments moved over into Disqus, transferring e-mail subscriptions, installing themes and plugins, migrating each and every one of my 457 posts and all the rest has been and adventure, but I’ve finally gotten to the point where I can’t do anything more without taking it live and making sure the DNS points to the right IP. Whoo. I now have access to a vocabulary set I never expected to have.
There’s still a few kinks– like the fact that what shows up in your tab still says “Defeating the Dragons” instead of “Samantha Field,” but I’m working on them.
A few changes for some or many of you: in honor of my new site, I’ve changed my e-mail address to email@example.com, so that’s now the best way to get in touch with me. My old one, forgedimagination, was based on a combination of blacksmithing and editing that never quite … worked. As an editor I forge people’s imaginations and writing like a blacksmith forged metal … except I’m pretty sure no one but me ever got that. I also have a completely new set of social media dealibops– Twitter is @samanthapfield, as is Instagram, and Facebook is now fb.com/samanthapfield.page.
The other change is that because I’m moving from wordpress.com, if you’ve subscribed to me through the WordPress app or by “following” me through you WordPress accounts, new posts won’t appear in your reader. In order to remain subscribed, you’ll have to become an e-mail subscriber (by filling your e-mail address under “Mailing List” on the new page). There’s also the option of following my RSS feed (once I figure out how to do that), or by finding me in Feedly or Bloglovin’ or whatever app you like (I like Feedly). I’m still showing up as Defeating the Dragons in those, too, so that should make it easy.
This post will remain in place for a while, but all the other posts will go private soon. Can’t wait to see you on the other side!
